A broken edge on a granite countertop can ruin the look of the high end material. Granite is made of many different sized crystals etc. Although it is possible to repair it can be a bit trickier than expected due to the slab structure being a little more fragile after being cut to fit the sink. Epoxy s sheen is a little different than granite and it just isn t possible to match the pattern of the granite.

To fix a chip in granite countertops a professional will come to your home and fill the spot in with epoxy. Quickly scrape back and forth over the dried resin to remove excess make smooth and flush with the countertop.

Wash and clean the counter around the chipped area preferably with a dedicated granite countertop cleaner like agm cleaner which contains a small quantity of sealer that will help to preserve your granite counters or with soap and water. However despite the rugged nature of granite it can still chip if a cast iron pan plummets into your countertop s edge. Start cleaning your chipped area with nail polish remover. You should hear a sound similar to fingernails across a chalkboard.

Tape off the area surrounding the chip and apply just enough glue to fill the chip and rise just slightly above the surface of the stone. You will need acetone to clean the granite surface straight razor blades super glue and if you have a darker granite countertop you might want to have a permanent marker. Let the granite air dry and apply a small amount of super glue into the repairable area. Fill the chip with the gel epoxy that s included in the repair kit.
